To me, learning to play an instrument should be one basic thing: A Whole Lot of Fun! I've been teaching the guitar, bass, ukulele, mandolin, drums and piano for well over a 20 years now, and I specialize exclusively in Adult Beginners and Children. With adult beginners, I blast through any pre-conceived notions about music lessons. Some people have horror stories about stern music teachers that MADE them practice endlessly, or face the proverbial music! Picking up an instrument, when you are no longer a kid, can conjure up thoughts of having to play endless choruses of "Michael Row Your Boat Ashore". It doesn't have to be that way! I focus my lessons on students learning the music they want to learn. After mastering a few basic techniques, we launch right in to playing some actual music. In addition to necessary playing skills, I also teach reading and writing music, ear training (learning to play by ear), and applicable music theory...

For children, I emphasize having fun! Let's face it: most parents are not looking for their child to be a virtuoso, but rather, in a climate of ever decreasing education budgets, they're looking to add to their child's education...I can provide that! Learning to play an instrument doesn't have to be drudgery. My attentive, patient and friendly approach will have you or your child playing in no time flat! I provide the latest in technology to help you on your way from web page that plays the song you're working on at any speed you want (to help you practice) to computer and iOS programs to help you along.  I hold a degree in Psychology and I am a member of ASCAP.
